Aramis Ramirez had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Jefferson Park Penguins beat
the Langley Farm Team by a score of 7 to 4.
In the bottom of the 6th inning Jefferson Park scored 4 runs when they had 4
base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Ramirez who made the crowd
come alive when he tripled plating two runs. Langley made it exciting in the
9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
J.C. Romero(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 1 run. Romero got relief help from Peter Moylan who gained credit
for his 3rd save. The losing pitcher was Jake Westbrook(0-2).
Scott Whitley was subdued when questioned after the game, 'Sure, this kind of
loss takes a while to get over, but heck, we're all professionals. We've
been through this many times - it's the nature of the game. We'll be fine -
as for me - I'll be ready to go again tomorrow!'
